Smita is committed to empowering children (10+), adults, couples and families to build stronger, resilient relationships, navigate the complexities of life's challenges, and achieve greater well-being. Smita’s experience includes working in the Los Altos School District and Mountain View High School providing, counseling services to clients and their families, addressing issues related to anxiety, depression, academic stress, ADHD, autism, technology/gaming, marital & family conflicts, bullying, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and low self-esteem. Along with a Master’s in Counseling from Palo Alto University, Smita holds an MBA with experience in the financial services sector. In addition, Smita’s experience as a dancer and teacher enhances her creative perspective when collaborating with all her clients.
Smita is dedicated to providing a safe space for clients to explore their emotions and behaviors; communicates effectively and achieve their personal and relational goals. Smita’s therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy and active listening while recognizing how the unique cultural background, upbringing, and family interactions play a significant role in client's experiences. Smita believes that every client possesses inherent strengths and resources that can be harnessed to facilitate growth and healing. Smita utilizes an integrative approach, tailoring techniques to the needs of clients, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Family Systems Therapy, mindfulness, art and play-based therapies and non-violent communication techniques with couples.
